In The Miniaturist’s Assistant, Katherine Scott Crawford takes readers to both 2004 and 1804 Charleston, weaving a spellbinding tale of art conservator Gamble Vance, whose work restoring centuries-old miniature portraits pulls her into a mystery and a romance that spans lifetimes. From a haunting fox-stole portrait to the studio of a Quaker artist in the early 19th century, the threads of past and present intertwine with secrets, danger, and an unforgettable connection.
